I put in the time and tried just about all there was to try. I bought more and more beginning reader books… gave one on one attention through homeschooling… invested in expensive curriculum… signed up for apps and computer programs… got special ed services in place through the school district… enlisted tutors to the cause…
Until the results stopped me in my tracks.
My kids' struggles didn’t go away. But their excitement for reading did. The worst part: reading wasn't getting any easier.
So I decided to loosen my grip on the advice that wasn’t working and set out to learn how to teach my kids to actually read. With proven, research-backed methods and a priority on joyful learning that were just right for kids in upper elementary.
For years I thought if I just stayed the course, my struggling readers would eventually catch up.
Kids who’ve outgrown the beginning reader programs but are still waiting for it all to click.
You could say I teach kids how to read. But really, I give families a fresh start—and a fresh take—to becoming readers. Plus a simple plan that works and gets kids reading in the easiest, most enjoyable way possible.
And I consider it the happiest and most unexpected of gifts that I get to be a part of it.
Now I run a reading program for smart, capable kids like yours and like mine.
My journey as a mom of 2 (both with dyslexia) and now certified reading tutor has guided me to a few Big Truths that I believe deep down to my core and shape everything I do here.

It’s also where my big kids (teenager included) and I still delight in stories. Audiobooks, picture books, chapter books… we love them all. My husband’s even been known to join in the book-loving fun.
